    INTRODUCTION

HELLO THERE

Let me begin by introducing myself. My name is Sydney Finch, and I am currently in my senior year attending Washington State University, majoring in business finance. My career plans include managing and owning restaurants in the future.

I was born and raised into a food-loving family. It all started back in 1969 when my grandparents opened their first restaurant, Taco Time, based out of Lewiston, Idaho. Today, my grandparents are successful restaurateurs who now own thirteen restaurants. I grew up in each of these stores, listening to business talk around the dinner table and watching some of the biggest food critics tinker around all the kitchens and dining rooms. For my family, food and people are what we are all about. We are THAT family, the ones who never take a bite before snapping a picture of everyone's plate. To us, it isn't just food. We are constantly observing, sampling, and gathering new ideas. May you ever find yourself seated at our table, hold onto your plate, or you just might find a foreign fork invading upon your dinner.

I've been part of this restaurant rollercoaster my whole life, but it wasn't until I turned fourteen when I started working in the business. I worked my first catering event and believe it or not, I hated every minute of it. My introverted, insecure-self, struggled to engage with complete strangers. I wanted nothing more than to escape to the dish pit. I can't help but laugh about this today because I am the complete opposite now. I actually get a little jealous when I find out I missed a busy lunch rush.

I love the food. I love the atmosphere. I love serving customers. I love the daily excitement of lunch and dinner rushes. But above all of it, I love that I get to wake up everyday and work on a team. I feel called to the mission of developing our next generation of leaders. I am the most passionate about helping people discover their true potential and equipping them with soft skills that will last a lifetime.

As I finish out my last year of college, I am looking forward to jumping into the restaurant industry after school. My dream has been to move somewhere new, and work for a restaurant group where I can further challenge and grow my restaurant knowledge and leadership skills.

Join me on my mission.
